The job of raising a teenager is hard enough. L1FT hopes to help you make it easier. This page is designed to provide parents with resources to help you understand the life of your high school student. Below you can find links to web-sites that will direct you to reviews of current movies that your teen might be watching, as well as instructions to help you research your teen’s music and other entertainment. They live in a different world - it’s time to take a glimpse inside.
It’s instructional time. Wikipedia is the most important web site available to help you research those things that you’re just not sure about. Click on the Wikipedia logo above to begin. Next, find the Search bar on the upper left side of the Wikipedia page. This is where you input the name of the subject that you wish to research. It can be used for anything, from writing research papers to reading up about famous battles in Roman history. Lucky for you, it details nearly everything of interest (and some things that are not - see “).

As an example, we’re going to look up a Christian rock band. Type in “Kutless” in the aforementioned search box and then click Enter. At the top of this new page, you can see that Kutless is a Christian rock band from Portland, Oregon. All the information you need on them is found directly below. At the bottom of the page, you there is a link that you may click on called “Kutless Song Lyrics.” You can find the lyrics to all of their songs at that site. Easy enough, right?

Repeat these same steps to look up movies, music artists, or anything else that you can dream up.
If you’re unfamiliar with Google, then it’s a really good thing that you’ve come to this page. Google is for less specific searches than Wikipedia, as the latter is more of an online encyclopedia. Click on the Google logo above, and type in anything. I mean it - ANYTHING! You will get a list of web sites that direct you to any subject that you are interested in. If you need pictures, then just click the “images” link on the Google main page. If you need to look up the lyrics to a band named “Pillar,” then just type in “Pillar lyrics” in the search box, and you’ll be directed to dozens (or more) of sites that will have those lyrics available. Google is a powerful tool, but use it with caution; it does not filter results as strictly as the filter provided by Google indicates, which is why WIkipedia is the preferred research tool of the youth staff. Remember to be careful with these sites.

Jesus Freak Hideout (JFH) is a useful site for a number of reasons. FIrst, it lists a large number of Christian bands and musicians. JFH provides reviews for their CDs, along with feelings of how spiritual the lyrics and overall feeling of an album is. Secondly, on the left side of the site there is a link that is titled Movie/DVD Reviews. JFH provides detailed summaries of the movies, as well as what kind of offensive material might be on the movie. The reviewer actually lists the number of swear words, details any sexual innuendo, and gives the reader an idea of what the general content of the movie may be. There are a number of resources available on JFH. Surf around the site yourself; there’s plenty to see and do.
